We are very excited about our forth year of spring soccer clinic at Simonds. Fewer bugs, no flooding concerns and after school in order to avoid conflicts with baseball and tball. After school also means parents are not obligated to be there during the 3-4:30 time slot

What Do You Mean Players Need To Wear Black Shorts and Black Socks!!!!??????

Soccer (small)

Hello Soccer families!

Black shorts and black socks ARE NOT mandatory for this season

At our WYSA meeting on Monday we came up with a great idea intended to simplify socks and shorts questions moving into the future.  We thought moving to one color would solve a variety of problems.  The announcement was intended to prevent any one from buying any end of the year tied dyed soccer shorts on sale. The announcement was also intended for families who like my own have yet to purchase their soccer gear(my own son still has no cleats). To that end we are making available for your convenience (flyers going out this weekend) a variety of items with our WYSA logo for purchase as a fund raiser. There will be sweat shirts, water bottles, knit caps, sweat pants and…..plain black shorts and socks.  This will be a permanant fundraiser with forms available from registration through first practices.(June-August)  This way parents can order what they need or want with out searching the stores.  We also thought having one unisex color would help with hand-me-downs and arounds within families and within our WYSA family.  Eventually we hope there will be baskets of donated black shorts and socks available for swapping in the hut much like the hand-me-around cleats.  This is especially important to us as we always want every player to have items available in the event they would not otherwise be able to afford such items.

This is a great idea that we thought of on Monday (wish it had come to us sooner). Again it is being instituted into the future and is not mandatory for this year(unless you so choose).

Starting next year we will have an easy answer to the question “what color socks and shorts should I get?”, you will be able to order these items through WYSA, and our kids will look extra sharp out there.

WYSA volunteers are always looking for ways to stream line our growing program, your help and support is always appreciated! We welcome your input and ideas! Please remember your volunteers are parents too running back and forth to practices, finding the shin guards and water bottles in the rubble of busy households and for me personally with out a pair of black shorts to be found!
